When you are remodeling a room or adding new furniture for a new look, one of the things you will want to keep in mind is the sort of furniture design you are looking for. The style of furniture will affect the way that your room is perceived by your guests.

History

The Victorian Style of furniture design was the first mass-produced style of furniture and is influenced by the time period of the late 1800’s and Gothic forms of art. It is named after the Queen of England who reigned from 1837 to 1901.

Gothic forms of art emphasize heavy proportions with the elaborate carvingswhich show up in the Victorian style of furniture design. There will be more ornamentation on these pieces than those of other types of furniture and often times, a dark finish.

This was the first style of furniture to be produced for the masses. You can find it in many types of fabric including velour, needlepoint, braided and velvet. You can find pieces with claw feet or whorl’s, which has a coiled appearance. Every other type of furniture will also have variables like this which characterize them as being influenced by a certain time period and embodying their own form of furniture design.

Choices to Make

When you are finding new furniture for your space, you need to think about several different aspects. The most important is just what preferences and inclinations you naturally feel towards different styles. When you find one you like, you can explore it more deeply and see what options are available within that style of furniture design.

If you like classic elegant things, you may want to explore the styles that are based on furniture designs of the past. If you want a simple and straightforward piece of furniture, you will surely be able to find other styles that cater to that specific taste.

If you want something that is actually antique, then you will need to look around for stores online and in your city that specialize in authentic antique furniture. There are types of furniture design that are created in the current time but are made to look antique, but some people only want the authentic version. This will give your home or office a bit of spice from the past and will definitely draw attention.

Some people make the mistake of feeling as if they have to stay with one specific form of furniture design throughout their home and for each room. This is not true. You can have a room that is mostly Victorian furniture but have a few modern pieces thrown in as well. This is a great way to add variety and make the room feel unique and more of a representation of your personal character rather than something out of a magazine.

Furniture design is a great thing to think about when you are re-designing or creating a new home. As you look at options, just remember they are all in categories that are each based on certain time periods or styles. Once you find the style that appeals to you, you’ll have a great starting point, but remember you can pick more than one!

If you are looking to design a wardrobe for yourself, this post might provide some inspiration. With special emphasis on sliding door wardrobes, Carre shows off its collection in good light with excellent photography and designer settings. The rooms are immaculately set with colors, furniture and accent pieces that match the product they highlight.

Having a proper and convenient wardrobe is a very important thing for a household. Earlier, people used to use things like almirahs for keeping cloths and other stuff. This used to take up a lot of space.

Wardrobes are mostly attached to the wall causing mostly zero inconvenience for a person, in terms of space available in a room. It also adds to the style of the room, if the right material is chosen.

Ádám Molnár, student at the Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design in Hungary sent us an e-mail presenting a clever design that combines an armchair for comfortable reading and a rocking chair that can be easily moved from one place to another. The so-called Chairiot has an integrated wheel system which provides the rocking chair function, but fixed in the two wing positions it makes a comfy armchair or a desk chair, too. Another strong advantage of the project is its retractable feature- with a minimum amount of effort, the chair can be packed up for storage. Its appearance is not strikingly elegant, yet the design has a well defined personality. The wheels and legs contribute to a playful appearance, one that suits the colorful versions better than the black ones. How would you comment on this chair design by student Ádám Molnár?

These fabulous living rooms seem to have it all: style, glamor, a well defined personality and last but not least, functionality. Because we did not cover entertainment in a while, we decided to make this post in order to give you inspiring ideas on how to integrate your TV or home theater system in the living room. In the pictures below you have plenty of arrangements to chose from or get you started when it comes to redecorating. The interiors are all very modern and feature original furniture elements. We particularly like the shape of the shelves and their creative positions. Still, the focal point of every photo is the TV which blends in perfectly. Like what you see?

Eero Aarnio originally designed the Bubble chair in 1968. This modern hanging acrylic sphere features removable cushions and hangs from the ceiling at almost any height. The hanging bubble chair is made of clear acrylic and chromed or stainless steel.

The modern hanging Bubble Chair also impresses the user by the special accoustic. The Bubble swallows the sound and you feel isolated inside in a pleasant way, even when the bubble chair is placed in a crowded place.

Eero Aarnio was – and still is – one of the modern furniture pioneers in using plastics in industrial design. Plastic material set the designers free to create every shape and use every color they wanted. This gave birth to objects oscillating between function and fun – and always fascinating ones. Eero Aarnio had said “after I had made the Ball Chair I wanted to have the light inside it and so I had the idea of a transparent ball where light comes from all directions,” thus the hanging bubble chair.

Professional installation is recommended. It is straight foward – a large hook goes into beam in the ceiling or anchored if ceiling is cement.

The chic Prince inspires softness and comfort in this modern design bed. The bedframe is made of four soft sides upholstered in leatherette with an elevated headboard. The mattress (not included) sits snuggly inside to create a level surface with the bedframe, without the need for a box spring. Mattress rests on a solid pine-slat mattress base for stylistic durability and added comfort.
